This week's writing challenge is six word stories. This is exactly what it sounds like, you have only six words to write a mini story. The challenge comes in creating a plot and conflict in such a short time. It is difficult but definitely doable.
Here are some examples from http://www.sixwordstories.net: "Painfully, he changed “is” to “was.”"; "Strangers. Friends. Best friends. Lovers. Strangers."; "Sorry soldier, shoes sold in pairs."; and "BREAKING: Simulated beings realize they’re simulated."
Try to write your own! Here are some ideas for themes you can write around, but feel free to come up with your own idea. You can use the specific word in your story or use it as a jumping off point or theme.
Once upon a time...
The best medicine...
Magnetic
Raindrops
Sonic boom
Sedative
Honey
Natural disaster
Have fun and post your stories as responses to this post (you will have to log in first)!
Her first breath became her last.
Widespread, tragic death. Only an omen.
Is falling just flying? How wonderfu-
Mine almost fit together into a bigger story which totally wasn't on purpose but I think it's kind of cool:
Darkness was all that he left.
Her reflection cried; she turned away.
Sometimes brokenness leads to new beginnings.
A warm embrace mended her heartache.
Sparks nearly extinguished, now roaring flames.
Fighting against fate only encourages it.
Where the sidewalk cracks, flowers bloom.
Lost, never to be found again.
She could scar from a papercut.
