Flash Fiction is fiction that is under 500 words. Different people have different word limits in their definitions of flash fiction, but that’s what we’re going with here. Let's write some flash fiction!

Get an index card. Write a short story using only the lined space on the card.

Fold the card in half. Either write a shortened version of your original story on this smaller surface, or write a new, shorter story here.

Fold the card in half again. Repeat the previous step. This story should be the shortest one yet! Each reduction in the size of the card encourages more concise writing, and emphasizes the importance of every word packing a punch. Good luck!
